about
For the last few years I have moved away from conventional printmaking and jewellery to textile and paper. I am a follower of the Slow Fibre Movement which is a 'Thoughtful Approach to the Making of Things'.
I am increasingly using natural dyes and plant materials which is a slow process. Recent workshops with Michel Garcia, a French chemist/dyer who has investigated the methods used centuries ago to dye and print textiles, and India Flint, the eco artist, have been instrumental in changing my approach to printing and dyeing without the use of harmful chemicals. For example my Indigo vat is organic and not chemical which is the common practice.
I also prefer hand stitching which is another time consuming occupation like mezzotint was, when I was a Printmaker.
